M42->MAF/Sony-α Adapter With Focus Confirmation

For SONY-α DSLR (KM-DSLR)


The M42-MAF electronic adapter, which

has the electronic circuit inside, may simulates the data interface of the
lens of the Minolta-AF format. Its electronic touch point connect to the
same point on digital camera body.. When digital camera body power on, it
reports the simulating data of the lens to the digital camera body. Thus,
the digital camera body will treat the MF lens as the AF lens. Then the
Focus Confirmation, as well as more important Anti-Shake (“SSS” in
Sony/Alpha) functions can be started normally.
New firmware was updated for mutiple data adapter/chip (ver:B) .

Preset Len’s data (Only valid for Multiple
Data Adapter/Chip)

1. Close Camera Body’s Power, Mount the adapter and MF Len
2. Open Camera Body’s Power You can preset Len’s data Anytime By Press Lens-Release Button (for old version should be
half-press shuttle button and release it within 10 seconds.), you can select to next sets Len’s
data. The default order is 50/1.1 ->85/1.4->135/2.8->200/3.5 .
3. If you want reset Len’s data, Just Press Lens-Release Button at anytime, (for old version you should turn off Camera Body’s Power,
re-mounting adapter and repeat from step 2)
Tips: should set aperture to minimum value i.e. 1.1, then you can observed the
aperture value changing when preset Len’s data.

Operation

1. Mount the adapter to camera body, set AF/MF switch to MF. Turn on camera’s
power. Set to mode A (Aperture priority mode)
2. For Multiple Data Adapters ,You can preset Len’s data By Press Lens-Release Button (for old version should be
half-press shuttle button and release it within 10 seconds), you can change to next sets Len’s
data.
3. There are two ways to set aperture, the first way is very simple. Just set
body’s aperture in minimum value. In this way, they will not record correct
aperture in Exif. The steps are:

a) Set body’s aperture to minimum value, meaning use Max Aperture. (only set
once before take picture).
b) Full-open MF Len’s aperture.
c) Half press shuttle button and adjust focal, the focus confirmation LED will
light when got focus.
d) Set MF Len’s aperture to your desires.
e) Take picture enjoy it.

4. The other way is more complex. but you can set aperture value same as MF
Len’s aperture, and you can record right aperture value in Exif . the process
steps are:

a) Full-open MF Len’s aperture.
b) Set the aperture value to your desires.
c) Half press shuttle button and adjust focal, the focus confirmation LED will
light when got focus.
d) Press AEL lock measured value.
e) Set MF Len’s aperture same as you set in step b).
f) Take picture and enjoy it.

Known Problems

1. For get a maximum effect
for AS, it should choose the same lens parameter as the MF, for instance, if
you want use the Takumar 50/1.4, the best selection is simulating to the
Electronic Adaptor of AF50/1.4. When you use the 135/2.8 MF lens, you’d better
to select AF135/2.8. This may avoid remedy mistake because of the actual
different focal distance brings from AS(SSS in Sony/Alpha) function.

2. Same as the above principle, we shouldn’t suggest use focal variation
manual lens for avoiding calculation adjustment error brings from the AS
function. Since it is unable to provide the correct focal distance data to the
camera, it inevitably brings the calculation adjustment error which can cause
the vibration due to the system error.
3. M42->MAF Adaptor features compact construction and limited space.
Although this Adaptor adopts comprehensive technical method, and considers the
situations of the majority of lens, it still has the possibility of the
position interference with the using lens. It usually present with rough
install for the lens screwing to the Adapter, or strenuous. In this instance,
we suggest not install forcefully and change to other lens, or you can grind
the thread of the lens.
  How to Order

There are some difference between the chip for AF lens rechip and the
chip for MF Lens. So if you want repair or rechip an AF lens with the
chip here,please note in the textbox with ‘AF’. Please set the data
with Max aperture at the first. Don’t set data with same aperture
together.

Wrong order is 35/2.8,50/1.4,85/1.8,135/2.8
Right order should be 50/1.4,35/2.8,85/1.8,135/2.8
All len’s data could be selected by user before shipping.

8,12,16,18,20,24,28,35,50,55,60,80,85,90,100,135,180,200,300,400,500,800,1000mm
The Max apature can be
1.1,1.3,1.4,1.7,1.8,2.0,2.2,2.5,2.8,3.2,3.5,4,5.6…
